Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by dysfunctions in glucose metabolism, resulting from a deficiency in insulin secretion or resistance to its action, leading to persistent hyperglycemia. Obesity is defined as an excessive accumulation of adipose tissue and diagnosed by a Body Mass Index ≥30 kg/m². Innovative therapies have been studied for the simultaneous management of hyperglycemia and obesity, with tirzepatide being a prominent example. The objective of this research was to analyze the available scientific evidence on the efficacy, safety, and applicability of tirzepatide in the control of Diabetes Mellitus and obesity. This study used a literature review methodology, conducted in databases such as PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar (2020-2025). Innovative therapies are being investigated for the concomitant management of hyperglycemia and obesity; Evidence suggests that effective management requires a multimodal approach, integrating pharmacological treatment, lifestyle modifications, and educational support, to reduce complications and improve patients' quality of life.
