Abstract

The aim was to discuss the exploration of pathophysiology, current solutions, safety aspects and futuristic views of nanoformulations for atopic dermatitis. An integrative review of the literature indexed in the journal portal Scientific Electronic Library Online, Medical Literature Analyzes and Retrieval System Online and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences was carried out. 11 studies were selected. It was found that approaches have been employed to repair skin barrier function and control skin inflammation in patients with atopic dermatitis. With the help of ingenious nanocarriers, new approaches can be demonstrated by combining with novel administration routes for the successful optimization potential of skin-targeted nanoparticulate systems for the management of atopic dermatitis. It is concluded that nanomedicines, as drug carriers, appear to offer superior activity, including increased therapeutic efficacy with lower toxicity from small doses, drug localization, and specific drug targeting.
